A2 Patch The DSCS III-A2 Satellite was launched 4 Sep 89. This was the final Titan 34D launched from Cape Canaveral. The A2 satellite was launched with the final DSCS II built by TRW. A2 is an early version of the DSCS III satellites. The DSCS III "A" series were developmental satellites and therefore, does not carry some improvements of the later built satellites, such as the increased channel bandwidth and SLEP. Also the AFSATCOM payload does not carry a SHF downlink.
